about
This is a song about a guy I met at SXSW in Austin last year. I traded him a cigarette for a story, and this is what he told me.
lyrics
I met a boy made a man by life
In a town in texas named for florida
He asked me for a dollar, we shared a cigarette instead
I saw his pain and I think that he saw mine
And well we’re all just heading home
Some of us take longer roads, it’s cold
Up north but this spring I swear we’ll make it
That kid he told me hed left his family and jumped the rail to California
But all he found were the down and out
and he’d finally figured out that he’d swapped the worst for worse, now it’s the booze that soothe his soul
and well I kicked rocks out of californi ay
where the law and ladies left me
and I drank my own way across deserts and plains
past all four corners through santa fe
and I guess I’m still heading home. But
ive got some road left its too cold up north
I think I’m waiting…

These guys are friends of mine from Florida. In addition to being amazing people, they also write and record amazing music. Check out their album Deep Creek. the left one is the deaf one
